Historical, artistic and gastronomic itinerary

According to a legend, the Paduan marquis Giacomo Dondi dall’Orologio, a physician and astronomer, returned from a visit to Poland, to bring to Padua some examples of this particular chicken to enrich the garden of his villa. With its extraordinarily colourful plumage, the long tuft, thick and smart, this small and elegant specimen of tuft chicken, soon ended up on the table of the Paduan nobles for its exquisite dying meats.

Recently saved from extinction, the Paduan hen has become a Slow Food presidium and is now bred following a strict regulation that provides for outdoor grazing, a natural grain-based diet and the exclusion of any GM food and industrial feed. A delight for the eyes and the palate that we will take you to taste with this exclusive tour.

The experiential tour program includes a walk in Padua among some of the most famous monuments such as Caffè Pedrocchi where we will have a delicious stop to taste the homonymous coffee with mint, cream and a dusting of cocoa. The walk continues towards the Oratory of San Michele. In the fresco decoration of the small Oratory, built at the end of the fourteenth century by Jacopo da Verona, there appears a Chickens’ Hen, surrounded by its chicks and is one of the oldest – if not the oldest in absolute – attestations of the presence of the animal in the Paduan land.

The walk continues along the river to admire the remains of the fortified Citadel up to the Restaurant where a lavish banquet based on typical products and obviously of Gallina Padovana prepared to rule of art awaits us.

Menu:

– Warm salad of Gallina Padovana DOP with its reduction on soft polenta,
– Gallina Padovana DOP with whipped cream and Raboso wine from the Euganean Hills,
– Paduan hen meat “in canevéra” with its delicious filling played on a delicate balance between salty, sweet (of the apple), sour (of orange and lemon) and spicy seasoning which is prepared following an ancient recipe with a very long cooking.
All the menu is paired with
– Merlot wine from the Euganean Hills.

Price from 130,00 € per person.
Guaranteed departure with a minimum number of 2 paying adults.

The price includes:
-Accompaniment,
-A cup of the famous Caffè Pedrocchi,
-Entrance and visit of the Oratory of San Michele,
-Lunch or dinner based on Gallina Padovana DOP dishes *.
