Wine & Grappa Tour in Bassano: The walk starts near Palazzo Bonaguro, sixteenth century building, now the seat of the naturalistic section of the Civic Museums, decorated with frescoes of the Paolo Veronese art school. From Via Angarano, we will continue towards the Ponte Vecchio, the Ponte degli Alpini, a historic symbol of the city, which has a very big economy and the military importance, in the past it was often destroyed by war and by the flooding of the Brenta, and always rebuilt, in stone or wood. In the Sixteenth century, was appointed to rebuild another reconstruction of the famous venetian architect Andrea Palladio.
We will continue towards our first destination, the Museum of Grappa Poli, where we retrace the history of the most famous distillate of Italy: grappa. We will discover its origins, how it was producted in the past and how it is produced today, this is the distillate of grape pomace (the skins of the grape) and we will enjoy a guided tasting of grappa. Leaving the museum, we continue slightly uphill, and we’ll admire the ancient buildings, the remains of the ancient city walls, the Ezzelini Castle, the Palazzo Pretorio, Piazza Garibaldi, dominated by the Civic Tower which dominates the whole of the historic centre, Palazzo Sturm, with its splendid collections dedicated to the local ceramic production, known for the fineness of the dough, the richness of the decoration and the brilliance of the enamel.
Then we’ll move on in a award winning winery of the area, immersed in the greenery and nature, in perfect harmony with the hills and the surrounding area. We will see the barrique cellar where the wine matures and mature and prepare to release all of its aromas, after arriving in our glass. Here will be the producers to tell us about the history and the production of their wine company and guide us in the tasting.
