SIX DAYS TO DISCOVER AND FALL IN LOVE OF THE VENETIAN REGION
5 nights and 6 days in the thermal Area of Abano and Montegrotto to discover the ancient Republic of Venice
1st day – Arrival at the hotel
Arrival in the thermal hotel 3* in Abano Terme (PD), accommodation in the room and free time to relax in the thermal pools of the hotel.
2nd Day – The Villas of the Brenta Riviera
The Brenta Riviera, a well-known waterway between Padua and Venice, is a panoramic area interesting from a historical, natural, artistical and cultural point of view. It is a natural extension of Canal Grande and is punctuated, all along the banks of the Naviglio (the artificial canal which crosses it), by picturesque venetian villages and surrounded by an agricultural landscape. The Brenta Riviera has fascinated many important personalities through all times: Casanova, Galileo Galilei, Byron, Montesquieu, and D’Annunzio visited it, Canaletto, Cimaroli and Tiepolo painted it, and it was praised in Goldoni’s and Goethe’s masterpieces. The French and Russian royal families, the Hapsburg and the Savoys and even Napoleone stayed here and the venetian nobility chose it as scenery for their Venetian Villas. They built here magnificent residences, enclosed by monumental gardens, frescoed, and designed by the most important artists of that epoch such as Palladio, Scamozzi, Tiziano and Tintoretto.
Accompanied by the Local Tour Leader we’ll visit two villas: Villa Pisani, considered the queen of the venetian villas, with its 30 elegant rooms in the noble floor where frescos, paintings and furniture is still kept today. We continue then towards Villa Widmann, an elegant villa which keeps inside a unique mixture of rococo and French late 18th century.
3rd Day – Venice
Visit the original Venice, the Venice of the venetians, with a walk through Calli, Campielli, ancient and colourful palaces and romantic boutiques. Listen to the gondoliers talking in venetian language, notice how the life of the venetian goes on in this unique city, be fascinated by the atmosphere. Discover all the little bus significant aspects of the masterpiece-city until the most important monument: the Basilica of San Marco.
4th Day – Thermal Relax and discover the pearls of the Euganean Hills
Pass a morning of relax in the thermal pool of your hotel and in the afternoon, enjoy the territory with a tour.
First, we’ll visit the Monumental Garden of Valsanzibio, an immense symbolic garden of the XVIth century, elected a few years ago, the most beautiful Garden in Italy, encircled completely with the panorama and the sinuous curves of the Euganean Hills. Here, the fountains, the statues, the lush boulevards, and the labyrinth are joined in a symbolic path of relief from the pities. With different steps from the Gate of Diana, until the Statue of the Time and the fountain of the Dolphins the visitor is guided along the symbolical relief from his pities.
After we’ll visit Villa dei Vescovi in Luvigliano di Torreglia: a precious stone nestled in the Euganean Hills. Villa dei Vescovi, ancient residence of the prelates of Padua, was built in the middle of the XVth century and is the result of many transformations, decorations, expansions. It’ll be exciting being enchanted by the harmony how Villa dei Vescovi is lied with the surrounding panorama and by the beauty of the Euganean Hills seen from the big arches and the pensile courtyard. Inside of the Villa we’ll cross the noble rooms as the sleeping rooms, the sitting rooms, and the big and bright salon where our eyes will be gladded by the marvellous cycle of frescos with a bucolic theme painted by Lambert Sustris. During the visits you’ll be accompanied by the Local Tour Leader.
5th Day – Chioggia
Chioggia is like a small Venice. You can admire the charm and the elegance of this city between its Calli and Venetian Bridges: the palaces built in venetian style that overlook the canals, the typical and colourful boats called “Bragozzi”, the fish markets, the main road Corso del Popolo, churches, museums and monuments, Vigo Square with its famous and beautiful bridge. Admire the ancient House of Goldoni, author of famous masterpieces like “Baruffe Chiozzotte” and then board on a motorboat to discover the traditional canals of the city, the docks, the sea city of Sottomarina, the natural oasis, the Madonna of the fisherman learning about the secrets of the fishing by the staff on board. 6th Day – Departure
