Historic Villas and Castles in the Euganean Hills

The Euganean Hills are a unique part of the Veneto countryside, just a short distance from Padua and within easy reach of Venice. These volcanic hills are surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, medieval villages and historic residences. For centuries, the area attracted noble Venetian and Padua families who built elegant villas and country estates here.

Today, the Euganean Hills are home to some of the region’s most fascinating historic villas, castles and monumental gardens, making them an ideal destination for travelers looking to discover a different side of northern Italy. The combination of history, architecture, gardens and beautiful countryside makes this area particularly appealing for visitors who want to get beyond the main tourist routes.

During the tour, you’ll visit two historic villas, castles or gardens in the Euganean Hills selected according to their opening days and seasonal schedules. You may visit:

• Villa Selvatico,  a historic residence surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. Its architecture and panoramic setting make it one of the area’s most distinctive historic landmarks.
• Villa dei Vescovi is one of the most important historic villas in the Euganean Hills. Surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, the villa offers a fascinating combination of Renaissance architecture, art and landscape.
• Catajo Castle is one of the most impressive historic residences in the Euganean Hills. Built by the Obizzi family, the monumental complex features richly decorated interiors, terraces and extensive historic gardens.
• The Monumental Garden of Valsanzibio is one of Italy’s most remarkable historic gardens. Designed in the 17th century, it features monumental fountains, statues, water features and symbolic pathways surrounded by the Euganean countryside.

📍 From Padua. Staying in Padua? We’ll take care of the transportation. We’ll pick you up directly at your hotel or B&B with our minivan, or at the nearest spot outside the restricted traffic zone (ZTL). At the end of the tour, we’ll take you back to your hotel. No cars, no parking, and no planning—just enjoy the tour.

🚆 From Venice. Staying in Venice? Join us by train. We’ll arrange your train trip from Venice to Terme Euganee station, and we’ll meet you there. At the end of the excursion, we’ll take you back to the station to catch your return train. You don’t have to worry about logistics—we’ll handle all the arrangements, and train tickets are included. Just make sure to provide us with a valid phone number with WhatsApp enabled for necessary communications!

  For departures from Abano Terme and Montegrotto, select: 9:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.
  For the meeting point in Padua, select: 9:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.
  For departures from Venice, select: contact us on info@lovivo.it.
• Once you’ve selected the time, click “Add to Cart” and then “Go to Cart.”

• How long does the tour last? From Padua, Abano, and Montegrotto, the tour lasts about 5 hours. From Venice, it lasts about 7–8 hours, including train travel.
• Are admission tickets to the monuments included in the price? Yes, admission tickets to the monuments are already included in the price.
• Can I choose which villa or castle to visit? If you’d like to visit a specific monument, we recommend letting us know in the booking. We’ll do our best to accommodate your request, according to the monuments’ opening hours and any seasonal or special closures.
• Is transportation included? Yes. From Padua, Abano, and Montegrotto, pickup and drop-off at your hotel are included. From Venice, train tickets and subsequent transfers by minivan are included.
• Will the tour still take place if it rains? Yes, the tour goes ahead even in the rain. It’s a wonderful experience in every season, including winter or particularly rainy periods. In case of bad weather, walks through the gardens may be adjusted or shortened depending on conditions, but all indoor visits proceed as scheduled.
• Can this experience be organized for groups or companies? Yes. This experience can also be offered to groups and companies, with the option to create customized packages based on the number of participants and the group’s needs. Email us at: info@lovivo.it.

EXPLANATIONS DURING TOURS: Only a licensed tour guide may provide explanations about the city, monuments, and museums. The tour escort, on the other hand, provides assistance and accompanies you to the most beautiful spots in the location chosen for your tour. TRANSFER SERVICE: The customer transfer service, when requested and if operated using the Agency’s own vehicles, is provided as a courtesy and is limited to the operational needs of conducting the tour. For packages that include train tickets: In the event of a public transportation strike, please contact us for alternative solutions or to cancel. If no alternatives are available, we will cancel the tour and issue a refund in advance. The cost of any train tickets already purchased will be retained and will not be refunded. WEATHER: The tour will take place even in bad weather unless the agency decides otherwise to ensure your safety. LANGUAGES SPOKEN DURING TOURS: Tours may be conducted in two languages simultaneously.
