Nestled at the foot of Monte Grappa and crossed by the Brenta River, Bassano del Grappa is an elegant historic town surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of northern Veneto. Its historic center is filled with ancient walls, elegant palaces, lively squares, and centuries-old landmarks that tell the story of a town that has long been an important crossroads between the Veneto plain and the Italian Alps. Bassano is also famous for its connection to grappa, Italy’s traditional grape spirit. The combination of history, architecture, local craftsmanship, and food and drink traditions makes Bassano a fascinating destination for travelers looking to experience a more authentic side of Italy.
Our tour will begin with a walk to the Ponte Vecchio, also known as the Ponte degli Alpini, the most famous landmark in Bassano del Grappa. The bridge, which holds great historical significance for the city, has been destroyed several times by wars and floods of the Brenta River and subsequently rebuilt. In the 16th century, Andrea Palladio was commissioned to oversee one of its reconstructions.
Walking through the historic center of Bassano, we’ll arrive at a historic distillery, where we’ll discover the history of grappa—the famous Italian spirit—its origins, how it was produced in the past, and how the tradition is upheld today. Finally, we’ll enjoy a guided tasting of local grappas, concluding the tour with an authentic expression of Bassano’s food and wine tradition.

How long does the tour last? From Padua, Abano, and Montegrotto, the tour lasts about 6 hours.
Is transportation included? Yes, transportation from Padua, Abano, and Montegrotto is included. We’ll pick you up and take you back directly to your hotel with our minivan.
Will the tour still take place if it rains? Yes, the tour goes ahead even if it rains. For the walk through downtown Bassano, we recommend bringing an umbrella, a waterproof jacket, and appropriate footwear.
Is this experience suitable for people who aren’t familiar with grappa? Yes. No specific knowledge is required. During the visit and tasting, the producers explain in simple terms the local area, grappa production, and the characteristics of the products being tasted. The experience is also designed for those new to the world of food and wine who want to discover local flavors in a straightforward way. What makes the tour even more enjoyable is the convivial time spent with our guides and the other participants in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
Do you have to be of legal drinking age to participate? Alcohol tasting is reserved for those of legal drinking age. Minors may participate in the tour when accompanied by an adult, but they may not take part in the alcohol tasting.
