High points in the history of local viticulture are 1876, when the Scuola Enologica di Conegliano (Conegliano School of Oenology) was founded, the first of its kind in Italy, and 1969, when the Prosecco wine produced in the 15 municipalities of Conegliano Valdobbiadene was awarded DOC status (controlled designation of origin).
On August 1, 2009, Conegliano Valdobbiadene became the 44th DOCG (label guaranteeing the quality and origin of a wine) in Italy and in 2019 the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene were recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is, in fact, a true cultural landscape where the work of wine growers has contributed to create a unique scenario.
