This Prosecco DOCG tour will take you to the upper Marca Trevigiana, just over an hour’s drive from Venice, along the natural amphitheatre between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene.

In these lands everything smells of wine and good flavours, of a centuries-old wine-growing culture that has deeply characterised the landscape and soul of one of the most enchanting areas in Italy.

Viticulture has been widespread in Conegliano Valdobbiadene since ancient times. High points in local wine-growing history are 1876 when the Scuola Enologica di Conegliano (Conegliano School of Oenology) was founded, the first of its kind in Italy, and 1969 when the Prosecco produced in the 15 municipalities between Conegliano Valdobbiadene was awarded with the Controlled Denomination of Origin status, the Italian Quality Label “DOC” (Denominazione di Origine Controllata).

On 1 August 2009, Conegliano Valdobbiadene became Italy’s 44th DOCG (the Italian Quality Label DOCG stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita, Controlled and Guaranteed Denomination of Origin) and in 2019 came the recognition of the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene as a Unesco Heritage Site. It is, in fact, a true cultural landscape where the work of wine-growers has contributed to creating a unique scenario.

The area of Valdobbiadene and Prosecco DOCG is characterised by a particular geomorphological conformation built by a series of reliefs interspersed with small parallel valleys. In this difficult environment, man has been able to adapt over the centuries, modelling the steep slopes and perfecting his agricultural techniques.

The tour includes a visit to enchanting places such as the Molinetto della Croda and the Cistercian Abbey of Santa Maria di Follina, two of the most evocative corners of the Marca Trevigiana. For lunch we will visit a family-run wine cellar for a wine tasting paired with typical local products: an obligatory stop to learn about production methods and taste the excellence of the area.

Finally we will stop at a second winery to end the day toasting with a glass of the prestigious Cartizze, one of the most renowned types of Prosecco.

    • Passage to the characteristic Molinetto della Croda
    • Prosecco tasting in a cellar with light lunch
