    Details

The Euganean Hills ring by bike is a tour of no particular difficulty except for the length of the route, which is easily solved thanks to our pedal-assisted bikes that offer the possibility for everyone to try this wonderful experience.

The route is almost entirely on a cycle path, but there are also stretches of low-traffic road.

You can decide to start the route from any point. For our convenience, we choose Abano Terme and advise you to proceed clockwise. In succession there will be dozens of opportunities to admire the monuments that the ring allows you to encounter.

Villa Draghi, which from its elevated position dominates the town of Montegrotto Terme; a few kilometres further on is the splendid view of the Castello del Catajo, an incredible testimony to the 16th century, the so-called “royal palace of the Euganean Hills” with its 350 rooms.

A straight stretch along the Canale Battaglia, an ancient waterway for transport to and from Padua, will then take you to Villa Emo, which will open up before your eyes with its beautiful garden.

When you arrive in Monselice, you will have covered a third of your tour and will allow yourself a well-deserved stop for a walk through the town. You will see the Castle of Monselice, one of the few fully-furnished castles, then head up to the famous Seven Churches and enjoy the view of the town from above.

You will leave for the town of Este and in the gardens of the Castle you can finally refresh yourself with a packed lunch or a typical lunch in one of the many restaurants in the historic centre.

After a break you will get back on your bikes and ride first along the canals of the reclaimed land, then along long cycle paths immersed in the countryside with the view of the gentle curves of the hills to your right.

Near Lozzo Atestino you will observe from the outside the Castello di Valbona, which offers a fine testimony to the medieval history of the area. It was the stronghold of the famous noble Paduan family whose history is intertwined with that of the two castles previously admired in Monselice and Este.

Another twenty or so kilometres to return to base, a final effort will allow you to reach your last point of interest, Praglia Abbey, an ancient monastery dating back to the 11th century, home to the National Monumental Library and the Laboratory for the restoration of antique books.
